Quote of the Week 11/11/13

11 Nov

First of all, Happy Veterans Day to all the servicemen & women out there. Thank you for your service!

This weekend was my final wedding of 2013, and it was so much fun. My mom even came down from Greenville to celebrate Ryan & Becca, and it was just a total blast of a weekend.

The other highlight of my weekend was roasting a whole chicken in my crock pot for the first time. I know that this probably isn’t a major feat for any of you out there, but for me it was kind of a big deal. So this week’s quote is in honor of my newfound chicken roasting superpowers. Enjoy!

“You could probably get through life without knowing how to roast a chicken, but the question is, would you want to?”
–Nigella Lawson

I wish I could make spaghetti look that good.

Quote of the Week 9/3/13

I hope everyone had a very fun and eventful Labor Day weekend! Mine was very busy, but that’s how I like to live.

This week’s quote is from one of my favorite movies, and I attribute this quote to being the reason I wanted to open my own bakery. Enjoy!

“I just figured if I was going to make the world a better place, I’d do it with cookies.”
~ Ana Pascal, Stranger Than Fiction

Quote of the Week 11/26/12

26 Nov

I hope everyone had a pleasant Thanksgiving! I tried to eat in moderation, but (as usual) failed in my attempt. I think the following quote by Roman statesman Cato The Elder pretty much sums up why.

“It is a difficult matter to argue with the belly since it has no ears.”
–Cato The Elder

I imagine him sounding like Marlon Brando in “The Godfather.”

Quote of the Week 11/19/12

20 Nov

Happy Thanksgiving week, everyone! This week’s quote comes from one of America’s best political satirists, and host of The Daily Show, Jon Stewart. Basically I think this quote is funny and also it’s Thanksgiving-themed, so therefore it makes the perfect quote this week. I hope you all enjoy eating too much with family members!

“I celebrated Thanksgiving in an old-fashioned way. I invited everyone in my neighborhood to my house, we had an enormous feast, and then I killed them and took their land.”
–Jon Stewart

He’s taking over the White House. One slice at a time.

Quote of the Week 12/19/11

19 Dec

Today’s quote comes from “The Thin Man” himself, Mr. William Powell. I really like this quote. It’s funny without being gimmicky. It speaks to reality, since I’m pretty sure this is how everyone feels every time they come to my house for a meal.

“Dessert is probably the most important stage of the meal, since it will be the last thing your guests remember before they pass out all over the table.”

–William Powell
